Remembering Gerry

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Gerry Cohen, the founder of Information Builders and Chairman of the Board, passed away early today. A native New Yorker, Gerry started this company in 1975 in the city he loved with a singular focus: to make it easier for people to build information systems to solve critical business problems. There was nothing that made him happier than to hear what a customer created with our software.

To the world, Gerry was a pioneer, an inventor, an engineer, and an intellectual. To those of us who had the opportunity to work for him, he was a great leader and teacher. He created more than a company, he created a second family that was unlike any other. His passion and dedication to his employees and customers will always be a part of us.

We are all in mourning today. But we know the best way to honor his legacy is by recommitting ourselves to his vision and how he lived his life.

Read about Gerry’s passion for dedicating a life to the development of great software in this article reprinted from an interview for Information Builders’ 40th anniversary.

Rest In Peace, GDC.
